Study finds which state has worst drivers’: Where does Connecticut rank?

Ultimately, the study, which was conducted by the popular automobile insurance site CarInsuranceComparison.com, found Louisiana ranked highest in the nation.

What does this mean for Connecticut?

Although Louisiana appears the current home to the worst drivers’ in the nation, the study provides lessons for everyone, regardless of the state they live in. Two of the top lessons from the study are:

• Threat of tickets. Researchers conducting the study noted that states with harsh drunk driving penalties and a higher likelihood of ticketing offenders had fewer offenses. This could mean that the fear of getting a ticket was a sufficient deterrent.
• Paying attention matters. States that ranked highest for safety had fewer careless driving citations. Often, careless driving citations are connected to the use of a cellphone. It appears this study supports many others, finding drivers who put their cellphones away while driving are less likely to crash.

Connecticut did fairly well in the study, ranking in the top safest states along with Vermont, Utah, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Oregon and Maine.
