The majority of Connecticut residents likely never stop to wonder if that last minute errand will be a life-altering decision. Unfortunately, car accidents occur without warning and victims are often unable to take any actions to protect themselves. One recent crash caused the tragic death of one young woman and sent three others to area hospitals with serious injuries.
Connecticut state police and other emergency personnel were recently called to the scene of a fatal collision along a local road in Kent. According to the report, one vehicle traveling south with three passengers somehow wound up colliding head-on with another automobile traveling north. The resulting crash ejected a 22-year-old woman passenger from the first vehicle. Her body wound up at the bottom of an embankment where emergency workers pronounced her deceased. The 25-year-old driver of the first car was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, while a third occupant was transported by ground to another medical facility.
The 37-year-old male driver of the second vehicle was also taken by air ambulance to a third medical center. All of the surviving passengers were believed to have suffered serious injuries, though the nature of those injuries was not disclosed. The driver of the second vehicle reportedly resides near the location of the deadly crash.
The police have not completed their investigation into this fatal wreck, and it is unclear what caused it or whether either of the drivers will face any charges. All of the victims will likely face a long and difficult recovery from the injuries they suffered. The deceased woman's family will likely never fully recover emotionally from their loss. Whenever these types of car accidents are the result of a driver's error or negligence, then the victims -- or their surviving family -- may decide to seek financial compensation for the monetary damages they sustained.
