There are many reasons why Connecticut travelers may find themselves caught up in traffic collisions. Though there are incidents that may be unavoidable -- such as a medical emergency or a mechanical failure -- the vast majority of car accidents are caused by negligence on the part of another motorist. One such collision recently injured two young children.
Connecticut police announced that they apprehended and subsequently charged a man after he was involved in a serious car accident. According to the report, the 32-year-old man was operating his pickup truck along a local road when, for reasons that are still unknown, he veered into oncoming traffic. His vehicle then collided with another that was carrying a woman and her children.
The crash resulted in the children, ages 3 and 6, suffering serious injuries. They were transported for treatment. It is unclear whether their mother was also injured in the wreck. The driver of the truck then purportedly left the scene on foot until officials later located him.
He is now facing several criminal charges in connection with this crash, including assault with a vehicle, evading an accident with serious injury and driving under the influence. Connecticut officials are also seeking assistance in obtaining information concerning an earlier incident involving the driver prior to causing this wreck. The condition and prognosis of the young victims is currently unknown; however, they likely face a long recovery from both their physical and emotional injuries. When travelers suffer serious injuries caused by car accidents that are the result of the negligent actions of another party, they may seek restitution for their monetary damages through the filing of a personal injury lawsuit.
