Though it is not a pleasant thought, one never knows when a serious car crash can change a family forever. These tragic accidents often result in a wrongful death that will leave not only an empty space at the dinner table but can also leave a family in financial dire straits. One Connecticut family is surely struggling following the loss of their beloved daughter in a tragic crash.

The fatal accident occurred on a late December afternoon last year. The woman killed in the crash was 24 years old. Details were not disclosed as to how the accident occurred or whether the driver was detained at the time of the collision. The 27-year-old woman who is believed to have caused the wreck recently surrendered to the police.

Connecticut authorities have charged her with manslaughter and impaired driving for the wreck that also injured other people. She is also facing other charges, including assault with a lethal weapon, reckless driving and failure to move to the right in a construction zone. She was freed on a bond of $150,000 with her first court date already on the docket.

These crashes take a terrible toll not only on emotions but also on the finances of the surviving family. Medical bills and funeral expenses may only compound the suffering that the family must struggle to deal with in the aftermath of a seemingly preventable crash. Families who have lost a loved one to these fatal accidents may choose to file a wrongful death suit against the driver and/or other parties believed responsible. A favorable outcome may result in compensation for damages recognized by applicable personal injury laws.
