Father's Day is set aside for children to show their appreciation for the special male role models who have made a difference for them. When car accidents steal these beloved men from their lives, the holiday will always be marred by the tragedy. Two Connecticut children have seen more than their fair share of tragic losses.
Police in one town recently made an arrest for a fatal accident that occurred last Father's Day. The man who was arrested had purportedly been on his way to make a purchase while driving his vehicle at an excessively high rate of speed. The 63-year-old driver then collided with a vehicle being driven by a 31-year-old father of two children.
The victim's vehicle was sheared in two from the impact. The charged driver's vehicle flipped onto its roof from the force of the wreck, and he reportedly suffered serious injuries in the crash. The victim had reportedly been traveling back home after working the holiday.
Connecticut officials just recently announced that the driver responsible has been arrested in connection to this wreck that happened last year. It is unclear why the arrest was delayed for an extended time. The children of the victim also lost their mother through another tragic incident and are likely being cared for by other relatives. These guardians may seek to file a wrongful death suit against the driver deemed responsible for this wreck. While these suits cannot fill the void left in the lives of surviving family, successful legal proceedings in response to these horrific car accidents can ensure that the majority of the monetary damages are relieved.
