Several people were injured and one was killed in a car crash in Connecticut earlier this month. Multiple vehicles were involved in the wreck. The details of this event are still coming out, but when car accidents do happen, according to the state, the victims and/or their loved ones may have legal recourse.
According to reports, on Friday, Jan. 13, in Salem, the driver of a car was apparently attempting to pass a vehicle when he hit that vehicle and collided with another car head-on. A fourth car coming up from behind the accident scene failed to stop, hit the three vehicles and another automobile before finally stopping. At least two of the drivers and an adult passenger were injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment. A child was also injured and taken to Connecticut Children’s Hospital. An elderly woman — a passenger in the fourth car — died at the scene of the crash.
Police are still in the process of investigating this accident. At this time, it is unknown if any charges are pending against either of the drivers believed responsible. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision to please come forward.
Multi-vehicle car accidents occur far too frequently and result in numerous people suffering injuries. When such events happen, the victims or — in the event of fatality — their surviving family members may pursue legal actions against the party or parties believed responsible in an effort to seek compensation. An experienced attorney can assist those affected by this particular crash with filing and litigating the appropriate claims in a New Jersey civil court. Those claims that are successfully litigated may be awarded monetary judgments.
